A man has been arrested in connection with a dog attack in the Bahamas that left a 9-year-old South Florida boy hospitalized with serious injuries, officials said.

Harrington Rolle, of South Bimini, is charged with negligently causing grievous harm, failure to take measures to control a dangerous dog, owner of a dangerous out of control dog that caused injury to a person in a public place, and permitting an animal to be at large, Royal Bahamas Police officials said Wednesday.

It was unclear whether Rolle was in custody.

Beau Brattain, who lives in Kendall with his family, was on vacation in Bimini and was playing on the beach when a pack of dogs bit him dozens of times back on July 28, police said.

The U.S. Coast Guard airlifted him to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami with life-threatening injuries.

His mother said he underwent multiple surgeries and faces a long and difficult road to recovery.

Police had previously said that the owner of the dogs was assisting officers in  locating, securing and removing the animals.
