One theft happened on Aug. 24 and involved an Escalade worth $115,000 that was later found abandoned without a license plate. On Sept. 8, a Corvette worth $160,000 and an Escalade worth $145,000 were both stolen from the same owner the reports said. One suspect, 23-year-old Alexis Jose Ruiz, was taken into custody after he fled from authorities and crashed while in a stolen BMW on Sept. 26, the reports said. NBC6 NBC6 Inside the BMW were a GM blank key fob and other uncut key fobs, remote transmitters, a signal jamming device, face masks, a wireless scanner and other items consistent with vehicle thefts, the reports said. Cell records showed Ruiz was at or near the scene of at least three vehicle thefts, and surveillance video showed Ruiz participating in multiple vehicle thefts, the reports said. A stolen Escalade was also recovered at his home with its VIN removed, the reports said. A second suspect, 20-year-old Roe Daymel Banos, was arrested on Wednesday. Both face multiple grand theft of a vehicle charges. #nbcmiami #crimewatchmiami
