A man accused of running over two people during a street takeover in Miami-Dade last month has been arrested, deputies said.

Anthony Brandon Lamelas, 20, was arrested Monday on two counts of leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury, an arrest report said.

The alleged incident happened around 3:30 a.m. on July 5 in the area of Northwest 25th Street and Northwest 76th Avenue.

According to the arrest report, Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputies and Doral Police responded to the area for an illegal street takeover involving numerous vehicles that had blocked the intersection and were performing dangerous driving maneuvers while fireworks were being discharged.

When law enforcement arrived the crowd dispersed, with pedestrians running across the roadway as multiple vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.

During the chaos, a black sedan struck two females in the roadway, and one victim remained laying in the roadway while the sedan maneuvered around her and fled the scene, officials said.

As a man ran toward her to render aid, he was struck by an older model gold Ford Expedition, authorities said.

The Expedition then ran over the female victim who was laying in the roadway before fleeing the scene.

Neither driver stopped to give aid to the three victims, who were taken to a local hospital with serious bodily injuries.

One woman suffered multiple skull fractures, a cervical spine fracture, a fractured pelvis and a fractured right femur, the report said.

The man suffered a fractured clavicle, while the other woman fractured her hip and had small lacerations, bruises and road-rash.

Just before the hit-and-run, the Expedition passed a deputy and the driver lowered the window, made obscene hand gestures towards the deputy and made derogatory remarks, the report said.

Investigators were able to identify the Expedition and found it was registered to Lamelas, and the deputy later identified Lamelas in a photo lineup as the driver of the Expedition, the report said.

Lamelas was arrested and booked into jail. Attorney
