Authorities have detained the suspect accused of shooting a Harris County deputy and escaping in a patrol car in the Channelview area Wednesday night, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

A manhunt for Chase Layne Patin had been underway through the night after the shooting injured the deputy during a family disturbance call on the 1100 block of Bayou Drive, near the East Freeway. Gonzalez said the wanted suspect was apprehended without further incident near the area where law enforcement was searching.
