CHANNELVIEW, Texas - The man accused of shooting a Harris County sheriff's deputy and fleeing in a patrol vehicle now faces five felony charges, including four counts of aggravated assault against a public servant. Chase Layne Patin, 25, is charged with aggravated assault involving Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy Javier E. Perez-Garcia, Sgt. Miguel Diaz, Deputy Abigail Gonzalez and Deputy Caren Williams, according to complaints filed in Harris County. The charges stem from a Wednesday family-disturbance call at a home in the 1100 block of Bayou Drive in Channelview. According to the charging documents, deputies encountered Patin firing a gun in their direction shortly after arriving. Investigators said Gonzalez was fired at twice as she exited her patrol vehicle, while additional gunfire was directed toward other deputies. Perez-Garcia was struck in both legs and suffered additional injuries, according to the documents. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center and underwent surgery. Investigators said he was listed in stable condition. The complaints also accuse Patin of taking Perez-Garcia's marked patrol vehicle and driving away from the scene. The vehicle was later found abandoned near Dell Dale and the East Freeway. Patin was arrested Thursday after an overnight search. Investigators said he was found hiding in a shed near a wooded area after a resident called authorities about dogs barking near the structure. Patin's newest charges include: Four counts of aggravated assault of a public servant, each involving a firearm One count of theft of property valued between $30,000 and $150,000 Prosecutors are asking for no bond, court records show. Court records also show Patin has an active criminal case open regarding the unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon in an unrelated incident. He has previous cases involving weapons, DWI and drug-related allegations, some of which were dismissed or otherwise resolved.
