Investigators say Cohen returned from her home with boiling water and poured it on a 15-year-old girl while she was involved in another fight. The teen suffered extensive third-degree burns and remains hospitalized. PONTIAC, Mich. - A Pontiac woman has been charged after she allegedly poured boiling water on a 15-year-old girl following a fight Sunday evening. Shanell Lakeisha Cohen, 31, was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm, less than murder, or strangulation. Shanell Lakeisha Cohen (Oakland County Jail) Deputies responded to the area of Leonard Lane at around 7 p.m. on Sept. 28 for a report of a large group of people fighting. When they arrived, they found that around 50 to 100 people gathered in the parking lot. Deputies later learned that a 15-year-old girl and Cohen were fighting. After they were done fighting, Cohen went to her home and allegedly took a pot of boiling water from the stove, returned outside where the teen was involved in a separate fight with other people, and poured the boiling water on the teen's back. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said the teen suffered extensive burns and was taken to a hospital. She remains hospitalized with third-degree burns to her neck and the majority of her back. Cohen went to the sheriff's office Pontiac substation on Oct. 1 and was interviewed by detectives, during which she allegedly admitted to pouring hot water on the teen. She was arrested and taken to the Oakland County Jail. Cohen was arraigned in court on Oct. 1 and was given a $75,000 bond.
