DETROIT - The man accused of setting a fire inside Huntington Place in April has pleaded guilty. Deashawn Victor Harrison was initially charged with third-degree arson and preparation to burn real property. Deashawn Victor Harrison (Detroit Police Department) Detroit fire investigators said Harrison was caught on camera going inside Huntington Place on April 28 just before 9 a.m., dousing the carpet with gasoline, walking toward the exit and setting a fire before leaving. The fire was quickly extinguished and caused minimal damage, according to officials. No injuries were reported. Harrison was arrested on May 8 after surveillance images and case details were shared publicly. A vigilant person who saw the story on the news contacted authorities after spotting the man, leading to his arrest. On Sept. 10, Harrison pleaded guilty to preparation to burn real property. The third-degree arson charge was dismissed. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 2. #clickondetroit #CrimeInTheD ®
