DETROIT - Two men were shot during a physical altercation involving a firearm at a park on Detroit's west side.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (Sept. 1) at about 9:45 p.m. at a park in the 5100 block of W. Chicago Ave.


Witnesses told officials that two adult men, one in his 70s and the other in his 50s, got into an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation involving a firearm.

Police said both men were shot during the altercation.

Officials said the man in his 70s was in stable condition.

The man in his 50s was listed in serious condition, police said.

Officials said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and that there was no ongoing threat to the public or people visiting area parks.

The investigation remains ongoing.
