PORT HURON TWP, Mich. - A Port Huron Township man was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to multiple charges stemming from a vehicle theft and subsequent police chase in St. Clair County. David Cutrubes, 35, was charged in May with receiving and concealing stolen property, fleeing in the third degree, and resisting and obstructing after attempting to flee from police during a May 13 traffic stop. David Cutrubes (WDIV) Deputies pursued Cutrubes after confirming that a black Chevy Silverado he had been driving was reported stolen. When officers attempted a traffic stop around 6:30 p.m. on Dove Road in Port Huron Township, police say Cutrubes pulled into an area on 36th Street where he ditched the truck. He then fled on foot through a densely-wooded area, requiring deputies to deploy a drone to locate him. Officers eventually caught up to him and took him into custody without incident. These incidents put both the public and our deputies safety at risk, St. Clair County Sheriff Mat King said in a statement following Cutrubes' arrest. Because of the deputies quick action and with the assistance of the drone, we were able to locate the subject quickly without anyone getting injured. Cutrubes was sentenced on Monday to 2-20 years in prison. #clickondetroit #CrimeInTheD ®
