Five-time U.S. Olympic skier and gold medalist Bode Miller pleaded not guilty to a pair of misdemeanor drug charges in Idaho, court records revealed.

Miller was charged on June 6 with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Fremont County Magistrate Court records.

Miller posted a $5,000 bond to get out of jail and pleaded not guilty to both charges.

A defense lawyer for Miller could not be immediately reached for comment on Tuesday.


Miller, 48, first donned red, white and blue in Nagano in 1998. He medaled for the first time at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, capturing two silvers, in the giant slalom and alpine combined.

After failing to make the podium in Turin in 2006, Miller came back with a vengeance, wining three medals at Vancouver 2010. He took home gold in super combined, silver in the super-G and bronze in the downhill.

He put the finishing touches on his storied Olympic career with a super-G bronze in Sochi in 2014.

Miller famously broke down in tears after that bronze effort, thinking of his brother who died a year earlier.
