ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man was arrested after allegedly hitting a patrol vehicle with his car, Gwinnett County police said.

Police said an officer followed a car driven by Demetrius Gibson as Gibson drove on the wrong side of the road before turning in to an apartment complex on May 30.

Gibson then backed his car into the officer, hitting the patrol vehicle before driving away.

On June 5, Gibson was arrested at a restaurant and officers discovered narcotics in the car.

He has been charged with aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer while engaged in official duties; fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense; two counts of willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer by use of threats or violence; hit and run; reckless driving; driving on the wrong side of the roadway; driving while license suspended or revoked; improper use of a dealer tag; expired tag; and several narcotics charges.
