MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County General Sessions Court Clerk Tami Sawyer has turned herself in to federal custody.

On Monday morning, Action News 5 exclusively spotted Sawyer walking into the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee with her attorney, John Keith Perry.

Action News 5's Imani Williams asked Sawyer and Perry for comment, but both declined.

According to sources, Sawyer was indicted on federal charges. Action News 5 attempted to retrieve the complaint, but the documents were sealed.
