MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - One of four men accused of breaking into Ja Morant's home in 2024 has been sentenced.

Alexander Esteban Huaiquil Chavez pleaded guilty in March to interstate transportation of stolen property.

In February, the Department of Justice announced that at least seven men had been charged in connection with a series of nationwide burglaries targeting professional athletes' homes, including the Memphis Grizzlies' Ja Morant. The burglaries occurred between October and December 2024.

Investigators say the suspects stole jewelry, watches and luxury bags worth about $1 million from Morant's home. The DOJ says the suspects are Chilean nationals and alleges they are members of a South American theft group.

The Department of Justice released a photo that was taken shortly after the theft at the home of a Milwaukee Bucks player. The total value of property stolen was approximately $1.484 million, according to the DOJ. (Federal Criminal Complaint/Department of Justice)

According to the DOJ, three other men - Sergio Andres Cabello, Bastian Alejandro Morales and Jordan Francisco Sanchez - have been indicted in the Morant burglary. There have been no new developments in their cases.

Chavez was sentenced Thursday to two years in prison as part of a plea agreement.
