Midland police say at least 11 people were shot at an active shooter incident near the 4600 block of West Wall Street Friday morning. Police responded to the sound of gunfire and are working to clear the area. Armored units were deployed, and other state agencies were called in to assist. As of 10:30 a.m., police were still working to resolve the standoff with the shooter. The incident started in Southeast Midland. City officials held a press conference at 10:45 a.m. to share the news since Facebook is experiencing an outage. The city is sending information out through the City of Midland X page. We are aware of the ongoing incident near Industrial Avenue and Wall Street. At this time, public safety personnel are actively responding, and we ask the public to avoid the area until further notice. There is a family reunification center at Midland Memorial Hospital for victims and residents. The center can be reached by phone at (432) 631-4689. The city did not release any information about the suspect, but it's believed to be just one male. The city also did not release any additional details about the victims.
