The Cornell University case is reigniting conversations about a lawsuit filed against Loyola University in 2022. Ten young women say they were all sexually assaulted when they were Loyola students. NBC 5 Investigates has followed the case since these women first sued Loyola University. WATCH HERE WATCH HERE Jane Doe G, as she is named in the lawsuit, said she hopes the stories force change on college campuses. I start having anxiety like as soon as the weather changes and it's fall, because my incident occurred in fall, Jane Doe G told NBC 5 Investigates. The changing of the leaves takes Jane Doe G back to her freshman year and the fear that followed. I wasn't a one-off case. I was a victim of a serial assaulter at Loyola, and I wasn't the first victim, she said. Do you think the university could have prevented your sexual assault? NBC 5's Rose Schmidt asked Jane Doe G. I do because my assault happened on campus in one of the residential buildings that this individual was living in, and I think that had they paid attention and had they taken the previous report seriously, that this individual wouldn't have been on campus to begin with for my situation to occur, she said. Court documents detail that alleged assault from November 2019. She confided in her professor, who filed a Title IX complaint on her behalf. Loyola officials later told her at least five other victims had reported the same assailant, according to the complaint. I couldn't believe the like atrocious mentality that the perpetrator held to be able to do that. But I also couldn't understand why the university hadn't done something about it earlier, she said. She alleges in the lawsuit the Title IX office discouraged her from speaking with an attorney or police, but she did eventually join a lawsuit with nine other former students.
