ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man trying to break into DeKalb County apartments was shot by a resident Wednesday night, according to police.

At around 11:20 p.m., officers were called to the 1300 block of Friendly Heights Boulevard in unincorporated Decatur, where they found the man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to survive.

Police believe the man, who has not been publicly identified, had forced his way into an apartment when he was shot. No charges have been announced yet.
